A report release by the Department of Veterans Affairs released in 2012 reveals that approximately 22 US Veterans a day take their own lives. An alarming statistic and one that has a similar trend globally.
There are a number of reasons for this horrible number. PTS (Post Traumatic Stress), the effects of injuries, stigma around seeking help for mental illness.
Every person who serves in the Defence Force knows that when they swear the oath of enlistment that they are becoming something larger and more important than themselves.
We Want To Help…
Safe Watch Global’s service VetGuard is tailored to helping veterans help other veterans. Here is how it works:
When a member of the VetGuard program calls for help using the VetGuard application on their smart device, the service will match them up with someone in the service program. The matching will be done on a number of factors including location proximity and member’s trained status. At that point VetGuard will place a call to a person who has signed up to the program, someone who is trained, capable and knows what the veteran has been through, because they have been there. Someone who has signed up to be there for a fellow veteran’s darkest hours. Additionally Push Notifications and email messages will be sent out to other members and association administrators, notifying them that one of their own is in need.
